Some recommendations to preserve and protect your jewellery:

-Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions and hairsprays, put your jewellery on after applying any products.

-Extreme temperature or vigorous activities, such as hot yoga, swimming, saunas and jacuzzis are not recommended environments for your jewelry. It is best to remove your jewellery beforehand.

-Remember: Jewellery that looks delicate … is delicate. Regardless of pricing, it is important to handle these delicate items with care.

-Store your jewellery in its own case or soft pouch not exposed to air, whenever possible. A velvet or cotton pouch will do the trick.

gold jewellery

Gold should be cleaned lightly using a soft cloth. For a more thorough cleaning, soak your gold jewelry in a glass of warm water with a drop or two of non-detergent soap (Dr. Bronner’s is our favourite) to help remove any debris or buildup. Remove after a few minutes and pat dry with a soft cloth. To clean further, use a very soft toothbrush to carefully remove anything remaining in settings.

silver jewellery

Similar to the gold care listed above, but for silver jewelry with a particularly high-polish surface, a special silver cleaning cloth may restore the shine. For silver jewelry with a matte finish, make a watery paste of baking soda and water and rub gently to restore surface.

plated jewellery
Plating will naturally wear off over time, but fading will be accelerated by items containing sulfur such as leather, rubber, chlorine, and perspiration as well as lotions, perfumes and oils. Some precautions to take that will prolong the life of your plated jewellery: avoid¬†polishing or using solvents on plated item…. Instead, wipe gently only if needed and never use anything but a clean, nub-free cotton cloth or cotton ball. Be sure to avoid silver polish or dip style cleaning products which will remove the plating. In general, plating is not a friend of liquid, any form.
